I have heard that you are a righteous man and that you have companions with you who are strangers and are in need.

Here is something from me as Sadaqah (charity). I see that you are more deserving of it than others.

As Hazrat Salman Farsi said this, he laid the dates in front of the holy Prophet.

This was a test.

He wanted to know whether the man claiming to be a Prophet was, in fact, one.

Years ago, his teacher had taught him that a Prophet of God never accepts anything given out of charity.

And when he saw the Holy Prophet order his companions to eat the food, but didn’t touch it himself,

He was convinced.

He knew, without a shadow of a doubt...This was the TRUTH he had been searching his entire life

SubhAnallah!

Imagine what he must have felt at that exact moment.

Here is a man who had spent his entire life seeking the truth...and had paid a heavy price in the process.

As a young kid, he denounced his forefathers religion and sacrificed his princely lifestyle...just because he felt something was missing.

As a devout Christian he travelled from one place to another...restless and in search of religious teachers who could answer his burning questions.

And when one of his teachers, with his dying breath told him about a Prophet being born in Arab lands...he immediately joined an Arab caravan to go there.

And despite being tricked and sold into slavery along the way…

He didn’t give up.

That’s because he knew:

WHEN YOU SEEK THE TRUTH, THE TRUTH SEEKS YOU.

This is a powerful lesson for all of us. We are surrounded by so much deception nowadays; it is sometimes impossible to distinguish right from wrong.
